My wife Kathy and I have embarked on a "retirement" project to restore and enhance an old Dairy Farm (Idora Dairy) built in the 1930s by Harold Grimes. The property is located on the beautiful California Delta. We will document our progress on this site and hope you enjoy our journey with us.
We spent 30 years in Pleasanton, CA where we raised our 3 children and enjoy working on projects! In fact our last project before leaving Pleasanton for the Valley was restoring an 1890 Victorian in downtown Pleasanton - https://sites.google.com/view/1015-rose-ave-renovation/home
Machi Ranch consists of two Ag80 parcels for a total of 6.28 Acres. The main parcel is 5.16 acres on the south side of the Fabian & Bell canal, the second parcel is 1.12 acres and includes the Delta Cottage and a portion of the island between the Grant line and Fabian/Bell canals.
Spanish Style home built in the late 1930s by San Francisco Financier, Harold Grimes . We opened up the main floor, created great room and renovated kitchen, laundry and bath. We also created a master bedroom suite and renovated guest bath.

Beautiful getaway cottage built in 1963 directly on the Delta. Two bedroom, one bath with boat dock. We renovated interior, repaired decks and new paint inside/out. Built shed for kayaks and water toys.

Rental Income.
Water tower. Currently houses well pump and tanks. Includes one bedroom loft with great views of almond orchards, alfalfa fields and mountains. One bath & small kitchenette. We installed new flooring, repaired all doors and painted barn red.

Rental Income.
4000 square ft dairy barn built in 1940s, known as Idora Dairy originally used to feed and milk dairy cows.

Property is 6+ acres and we have been gradually landscaping with Bocce ball court, horse shoe pit, new trex decks, new patios, new asphalt driveway and liberal use of trees, plants decorative bark and rocks.

New olive orchard planted November 2024
5000 square ft of workshop space, consisting of seven shipping containers converted to individual workshops/storage with electrical and compressor capabilities. A train car is also on the property.
